Book Review Time! (Or at least a chapter)

I wanted to take the time to right a review of what might be one of the better "Christian" books to be written this year. It is a book titled: Radical,Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt.
I have to say that it is hard hitting, and it is one of those books that you want to read, because you know you should, but you know it might hurt. And it does.
As a Pastor I struggle with the idea that we tend to be much more concerned with how to "Do Church" (I hate that phrase) than really looking at the one we claim to "Do it all for, Jesus"
The book starts by looking at Luke Chapter 9 and exploring some of the most unpopular teachings of Jesus, and then the author asks us to reflect and to look at how we as a modern Evangelical church line up with what Jesus had to say. It really takes a huge stab at the "American Dream" type of Christianity of which most churches (Mine Included) seem to follow.
Well it's much better and gut wrenching than I can portray in my blog, so if you are "Christian" then you should get it and read every page! It will most likely lead to a decision of whether or not you want to be a Christian!

Thank you for reading this, I know you did not have to!

  1. I believe that materialism has crept into our live so much that we don't eve see it anymore and when we do we refuse to see it.

There is nothing in the New Testament that would embrace the kind of lifestyle that we "enjoy" these days.

It is time to throw of the "materialistic chains" that bind us and learn what is really important in life!
